Our vision is to see Berlin embraced by the love of Jesus Christ as we build His Church in every corner of the city. Of course, we start in our own respective corners by living so that the light of the good news of the cross shines bright in the darkness around us. What that looks like specifically is a matter for thought and for discussion when we gather together. But may I submit to you the words of one of my favorite children’s hymns (by Susan B. Warner):
Jesus bids us shine with a clear, pure light,
Like a little candle burning in the night;
In this world of darkness, we must shine,
You in your small corner, and I in mine.
Jesus bids us shine, first of all for Him;
Well He sees and knows it if our light is dim;
He looks down from heaven, sees us shine,
You in your small corner, and I in mine.
Jesus bids us shine, then, for all around,
Many kinds of darkness in this world abound:
Sin, and want, and sorrow—we must shine,
You in your small corner, and I in mine.
May your light so shine before men–your neighbors, your friends and colleagues–that they may glorify your Father which is in Heaven.
